History - Who we are

A LEGACY OF LEARNING | 30 YEARS OF INSPIRING STUDENTS

Our story began in 1993 when we opened our doors as a small school with just two students. Since then, we've grown into a vibrant international community and the oldest international school in Vilnius, now spanning two unique campuses: our state-of-the-art Lower School, nestled in a serene botanical reserve, and our Upper School, located in the historic heart of Vilnius’ Old Town. Together, we are one school, united in our mission to inspire students from around the globe.

Over the years, we've achieved significant milestones:

1998: Officially established as the American International School of Vilnius Foundation, welcoming students from over 20 countries.
2003: Accredited by the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science.
2006: Launched the CIS and MSA accreditation process, signifying our commitment to excellence.
2008: Witnessed the birth of our first girls' basketball team, who brought home a third-place finish in the CEESA competition.
2011: Became a candidate school for the prestigious IB Diploma Program.
2013: Earned authorization as an IB World School, offering the rigorous IB Diploma.

Today, AISV proudly hosts a diverse international student body from Pre-K2 through Grade 12, with 60 percent of our students representing over 30 different nationalities. Our fully inclusive environment, two campuses, and state-of-the-art facilities create an exceptional learning experience. Our graduates consistently gain acceptance into top universities worldwide, including Harvard, Yale, NYU Abu Dhabi, the University of Chicago, and the University of Edinburgh.

We're proud of our rich history and excited to continue empowering our students, inspiring a love for learning, and connecting them to a global citizens community!
