Athletics Program
Welcome to the "THE WOLF PACK" - the athletics program of the American International School of Vilnius!
WOLF PACK VISION
The purpose of our sports program is to promote the student's social, emotional, physical, moral, and mental well-being. All student-athletes display the proper ideals of sportsmanship, ethics, and respect in their conduct. Our sports program is to provide them with a positive lifelong experience.
At AISV, we believe our players learn a great deal by participating in interscholastic athletics all year long. Grit, ownership, determination, perseverance, achievement, sportsmanship, and teamwork are but a few of the valuable lessons that can be attained through athletic participation. The building of self-esteem and self-confidence are ongoing processes during practice and competition throughout the season. By providing various athletic experiences for student-athletes, AISV helps students develop important habits and attitudes that prepare them for adult life.
COMPETITION & INCLUSIVNESS
Middle and High school students have the opportunity to take part in a variety of international tournaments like the Central and Eastern Schools Association (CEESA), the Nordic International Schools (NORDIC) and other international invitational events throughout the school year. Locally, we also participate in our Vilnius International School Sports Association (VISSA) with 4 other international schools.
We also have co-ed teams in Lower School with boys and girls combined in the teams. They practice and participate in some VISSA-friendly competitions or activities, including some with parents.
For the past 20 years, we have collaborated closely with 35 international schools in East Europe, from Finland to Azerbaidjan and Hungary to Albania. We regularly organized sports and activities events in Helsinki, Krakow, Riga, Tallinn, Bratislava, Verona, and Warsaw.
STUDENT OWNERSHIP
As part of the further development of the AISV athletic program, the Athletic Student Council (AstuCo) is a school club that organizes and helps sports development among the AISV community. This council is a student-led club where everyone is welcome to support and enhance our Iron Wolves community.
Our Athletic Student Council offers students the opportunity to take leadership and be ambassadors within the realm of sport. Student-athletes will have an avenue for involvement to help create a sporting culture in both secondary and primary schools.
